Vietnam and Singapore Deepen Economic Ties Amid Global Forum Talks

DHP Radio, Vietnam – On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Tianjin, the Prime Ministers of Vietnam and Singapore held a high-level meeting to push their economic ties to the next level.

Vietnam’s PM Pham Minh Chinh pitched a bold vision: more Vietnam–Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs), this time featuring smart cities and digital commerce hubs. He wants Singapore’s help fueling Vietnam’s economic growth engine.

The proposals didn’t stop there. Vietnam also asked Singapore to help train top-tier talent, collaborate in digital and green economies, and even develop an international financial center on Vietnamese soil.

Singapore’s PM Lawrence Wong didn’t just listen—he signed on. He’s backing the action plan and wants to upgrade VSIPs into full-blown high-tech and urban economic zones.

Wong also expressed a surprising interest—he’s eyeing Vietnam as a key rice supplier to secure Singapore’s food future.

Both leaders wrapped up the meeting with big ambitions: stronger trade, tech, and green energy cooperation. They also pledged tighter ASEAN unity in an increasingly unpredictable global stage.
