Indonesian Fugitive Paulus Tannos Fights Extradition in Singapore Court

DHP Radio, Singapore – Fugitive Indonesian businessman Paulus Tannos is at the center of a legal showdown in Singapore over his extradition—and he’s about to take the stand.

Tannos is wanted in Indonesia for allegedly bribing officials in the massive \$140 million e-KTP corruption case. But in Singapore, he’s fighting tooth and nail to avoid being sent back.

At 70 years old, Tannos has lived in Singapore since 2017. He was arrested earlier this year, and his legal team claims there are serious political and judicial concerns if he returns to Indonesia.

On Wednesday, his lawyers revealed they’ll call four witnesses, including Tannos himself. One is an Australian expert on Indonesia’s political climate. Another is an Indonesian legal scholar. The third? A lawyer set to testify on what they call “alarming events.”

The state wants Tannos to testify first to avoid the risk of him tailoring his story. His lawyers, however, are building a sequence to support claims that the case is more complex than it seems.

The hearing is now adjourned until August, with the court navigating a historic first: an extradition battle under the new Singapore–Indonesia treaty.
