Indonesia Woman Diagnosed with Stage 5 Kidney Failure at 32

DHP Radio, Indonesia – A 32-year-old woman from Indonesia was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure — a condition typically seen in people over 40.

Her name is Sema. And her story starts with nothing more than a loss of appetite. In March 2024, Sema started feeling nauseous and couldn’t keep food down for months. She noticed swelling around her eyes and unexplained bruises on her body.

The doctors ran tests. The results were shocking.

Urea: 234 mg/dL
Creatinine: 13.2 mg/dL
(Normal levels are 10–40 and 0.5–1.1)

Sema exercised regularly. She drank 2–3 liters of water daily. Never drank alcohol. Rarely consumed sugary drinks. But she had one hidden risk. She’d been dealing with hypertension since she was 25 — and barely took her meds.

That changed everything. Her love of salty street food didn’t help either. Bakso. Siomay. High-sodium snacks were part of her daily routine.

“I regret it now,” Sema admitted. “I rarely ate home-cooked meals. I didn’t realize how much salt I was taking in.”

Sema’s life revolves around twice-weekly dialysis sessions.

She still drinks water. She still tries to stay active. But the damage is done — and she’s warning others not to make the same mistakes.

Even at 32, your kidneys can quit on you. If you’re under 40 and think kidney failure can’t happen to you, think again. Hypertension, sodium-packed diets, and skipping medication could quietly push you to the brink.
