Malaysia Becomes Key Gateway to ASEAN for Kyrgyz Republic

DHP Radio, Malaysia – Malaysia is now positioning itself as Kyrgyz Republic’s gateway to ASEAN — and in return, eyeing Central Asia as its next frontier. Deputy Minister Liew Chin Tong made it clear: both nations stand to gain big.

The Kyrgyz Republic, a landlocked country surrounded by China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, was Malaysia’s fourth-largest trading partner in Central Asia last year. Total trade? Over \$8.7 million.

Liew highlighted Malaysia’s real edge — it’s not just a trading nation. It’s the sixth-largest semiconductor exporter in the world. That’s right. High-tech, high value.

And geopolitically? Both nations are non-aligned. Perfect for a shifting global order.

President Sadyr Zhaparov’s visit to Malaysia wasn’t just ceremonial. He met with Malaysian businesses, sealed deals in mining and livestock, and spent time at Parliament. Two days, four agreements, and one clear message: opportunity is wide open.
